Lemonade (NYSE: LMND) announced Tuesday that it has expanded its renters insurance offering to North Dakota, extending its digital insurance platform to renters across the state as part of the company’s ongoing U.S. growth strategy.
The technology-driven insurance provider said North Dakota residents can now purchase and manage renters insurance policies through Lemonade’s mobile application and online platform, giving customers access to policy management, claims filing, and coverage updates in a fully digital environment.
The expansion marks another step in Lemonade’s effort to increase its footprint across the United States as demand for digital-first insurance solutions continues to grow.
According to the company, renters in North Dakota will have access to customizable coverage options designed to protect personal belongings and provide liability coverage. Customers can receive quotes, purchase policies, update coverage, and submit claims through the company’s app.
Lemonade also highlighted its automated claims technology, noting that approximately 40% of claims are processed instantly, allowing some customers to receive claim decisions and assistance more quickly following covered losses.
The company said renters insurance coverage in North Dakota starts at $5 per month. Lemonade cited internal and industry data indicating that its renters insurance premiums are roughly 30% below the national average.
In addition to base pricing, eligible customers may qualify for additional discounts through policy bundling, the installation of qualifying home safety devices, or by selecting annual payment plans.
The expansion comes as insurtech companies continue to leverage automation, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms to streamline the insurance purchasing process and improve customer experience.
Lemonade currently serves more than 3 million active customers across its insurance products and has received recognition from several business and consumer organizations for its technology-driven approach to insurance services.
Founded as a digital-first insurer, Lemonade offers a range of insurance products, including renters, homeowners, pet, car, and life insurance. The company has focused on simplifying the insurance process through automation and mobile technology while expanding its presence across U.S. markets.
The addition of North Dakota further broadens Lemonade’s reach in the renters insurance market and supports its strategy of making digital insurance products available to a larger customer base nationwide.
